The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between media literacy, trust in news, and social participation among management students at Dorud Branch, Islamic Azad University. This research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-correlational in terms of data collection method. The statistical population consisted of all 125 master's students enrolled in management programs during the 2024 and 2025 academic years. Using convenience sampling and the Morgan table, 94 students were selected as the sample. Data were collected through three questionnaires: the standard Media Literacy Questionnaire by Falsafi (2014) comprising 20 items and 5 components, a researcher-developed Trust in News Questionnaire with 15 items and 5 components, and a researcher-developed Social Participation Questionnaire with 30 items and 6 components. Content validity was confirmed by expert opinion, and reliability was established through Cronbach's alpha coefficients (above 0.7). Pearson correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between media literacy and trust in news at the 99% confidence level, as well as a significant positive relationship between media literacy and social participation at the 95% confidence level. These findings indicate that enhancing media literacy among students can increase their trust in news and foster more active social participation. This study underscores the importance of media literacy education as a key strategy for strengthening trust in media and developing social engagement among students. The results may inform the design of educational programs aimed at promoting media literacy and encouraging social participation in academic settings.
