| Historical urban spaces, beyond their physical and aesthetic value, possess intrinsic qualities that activate users' subjective experiences and evoke their lived memories. This research aims to examine the process of memory recall when encountering nostalgic urban spaces, focusing on the historical context of the city of Yazd as a case study. The research methodology is descriptive-analytical, grounded in a qualitative approach, with data gathered through content analysis of theoretical literature, field observations, and case analysis. The findings reveal that vernacular physical elements, traditional spatial configurations, and the presence of cultural signs in Yazd's historical fabric provide a fertile ground for evoking individual and collective memories, thereby fostering a richer subjective spatial experience. Consequently, urban regeneration strategies should adopt a memory-centric and human-centered approach to strengthen the identity-related and psychological sustainability of the city. |
